Be sure to watch the ocean
conditions at all times and obey the warning signs. There are no
life guards on this beach, and there are rock hazards so if you swim
here please be very careful. A sea arch, sea caves, and sea side lava
tubes are all in the beach area. We had fun going into a small
cave next to the beach which lead down to the ocean. There are
several trails in the area that you can hike, but be careful as some of
them are going up the cliffs and you are very close to the ocean.
So if you slip and fall you would fall into an area where large waves
are crashing into the lava rocks below.
Depending on the time of the year when you are in Maui, this beach
may or may not be very busy. I think the black beach is a pretty
popular tourist attraction. |
